Time Trial Racing
|
You race against the clock with the aim to get a fast time recorded. Being a solo effort you are not allowed to sit on the back wheel of another rider, (Team events excepted). The rules are a bit different in that you do not have to wear club clothing, but it looks better when you do. And you do not have to wear a cycle crash hat, but it is highly recommended. You carry out your time trial racing mainly on open roads and this does restrict youngsters to the age of 12 years old. You can race up to any age, and many riders compete well into their veteran years. When you want to ride a time trial there are 2 types of timed event. 1, The club event, for this you need only be in a club and turn up at their club events. 2, Open events, for these you need to enter in advance and a fee is payable, courses and events are listed in the handbook. The governing body for time trials is the C.T.T. (formerly the RTTC) there is a link to their web site on our links page. The C.T.T. (formerly the RTTC) also have their own yearly handbook, this lists all open events for the year, which can be purchased from the club. Here again more details can be obtained via the Club Secretary. |
