Road Racing

As you can see Road Racing is not a solo effort, it is mainly group work.
Although riding in a bunch can seem a bit hairy, once you get used to it, it can be a good way to get used to fast bike handling.
Road racing is carried out on open roads or purpose made circuits.
This allows all age groups to compete or with younger riders just to be able to ride there bikes.
The governing body is the B.C.F, and more info about them can be obtained via the link on the Cycling Related Links page.

With road racing there are some rules that all riders have to abide by, the main one these days is the Compulsory wearing of cycle Crash Hats.
When competing in road races most time there is also bike safety checks these can sometimes be light and other times quite strict.
When it comes to clothing the B.C.F normally require you to wear your club's colours and not just anything.
To enter a road race you need a license and most events need to be entered in advance, event details can be found in the handbook. As with most races these days, entry on the line and the issue of day licenses is more common place.

The B.C.F have a yearly handbook listing all events through out the year, you can purchase this from the club.
More details can be obtained via the Club Secretary.
